I think the special paint is becouse of the odd color combo. you could get any 2 colors for the 2 tone, but white was the normal recomended color that GM would use as the defult.
I know it kinda looks like it in the picture but it really is one color the bottom is just less sunbeat than the top. The overdrive looks to be a seperate unit attached to the trans.
