Rear Brakes
Has anyone used this compnay to convert the rear to disk brakes on a 4wd?
It shows as 2wd but they make it for a 4wd also. Are disks in the rear a big improvemet on the 71 Blazer? http://www.mpbrakes.com:80/products/...product_id=483 Last edited by Magnuman; 12-05-2007 at 04:37 PM. |

Re: Rear Brakes
I know a few of the guys have used Blackbird Customs. I am going to go with them when I do the C10 and the K5. They are about 1/2 that much as well.

Re: Rear Brakes
Post some pics when you get them and after you install!

Re: Rear Brakes
Yeah... let us know how they work. Do you need to upgrade your brake booster, master cylinder, or install a manual proportioning valve?

The master cylinder unit in the blazer now is 6772BB2. The master cylinder needed to be a 1 1/8" bore for disc/disc. I need to check and make sure I have an 1-1/8" bore. I have currently disks in the front and drums in the rear. |

Re: Rear Brakes
I tried looking on CPP's website, but it doesn't give you the bore on that master. You'll have to call them I guess to find out if its actually 1-1/8", unless someone has already found that out. Sounds like it's going to be a sweet Mod! Can't wait to see some pics...(hint,hint).

Re: Rear Brakes
In reality, rear disc brakes on blazers or trucks is a ho-hum. If the stock disc/drum's are working correct, they are fine. The 99-2005 went disc/disc with lots of advertising but they went back to rear drum with NO mention in their ads. The emergency brake on rear discs is usually crap. So, they look cool, work ok but don't expect a quantaum leap in brake performance. Now fronts is a different story. Huck
