H Pipe
I'm thinking about a set of Flows for my 69 C10.
When I went to the Flowmaster website, they state that they highly recommend an H pipe for all dual exhaust applications. Anybody know why? Is anyone else running flowmasters without the H pipe? Jim M. Mt Juliet

If you put the H pipe in the right place, its free torque, improved scavenging, very slightly more subtle exhaust tone, added rigidity to the exhaust system.

I would reccomend an H or X pipe in any dual system, the x is new tec , but a little harder to fit to the chassis. They are basically a balance tube, that lets the pipes draw from either side to help with the out of sequence pulses in the firing order. The "balance pipe" will give more response in the low & mid ranges, without hurting top end power. They also mellow the ex note,& give it a more "tuned" sound. they are also said to pick up some milage.......i couldnt say on that(my foot is too heavy!)

If you do go with a H pipe have them put one in that has flanges so that it can be removed for trans and drive line service.

I have an X pipe on my truck, motor really sounds good, not sure if its the pipe or the mean cam i stuffed in it. It impressed my dad. He had one put on his 87 4x4.

Here is a picture of our Performance EX exhaust system installed under a 68 Short Bed Chevy 2WD with T-400 transmission. You can see it would be a tight squeeze, but I believe the tranny could be removed with the exhaust in place.

I am running 2 1/2 inch pipe with dual flowmaster and no H or X pipe..dumped right before rear tires. Sounds real good.

I wished my exhaust was longer... It's turned down right under where the carrier bearing is... Hey wes do you guys sell just he x portion of the exhaust?
