Score of the week
Scored this gem today for the truck. Guy bought everything from LMC and put it in the garage, never made it to his '84 longbed. As you can see, there's a little surface rust inside from some water getting to it, but that'll blast off easily, and I'll etch the inside and shoot it chassis black before installation.
LMC price for the setup, roughly 280$. I picked it all up for 50$

Re: Score of the week
What are you going to do with it as it is a 70's bumper? Not angling for it or anything just wandering what you going to put it on?

Re: Score of the week
To be honest, I haven't even done the research on what years in there cross over and what fits what. All I knew when I snatched it up was that it was the style of bumper I wanted, and it was for a 73-87 truck. Outside of that, nothing mattered to me... LOL
I'm sure a few of the veteran guys can tell me exactly what I'll be fighting with when I go to install it? My thought was this... Even IF my bracketry doesn't get me exactly where I need to be, the price I got all the parts at was worth the fabrication I'll need to do to get it stuck on. If you dig up my build thread, you'll notice that the truck is no stranger to fabrication.. lol I'm just excited to get my hands on one, as it's the last body part I lack to getting it completely back together after it rolls out of the body shop. Now I just have to decide whether I'm going to take the high road and buy headers and have exhaust made, or take the time to build it all myself. I'm almost sure that is the last of the missing parts for re-assembly...

Re: Score of the week
Steve, if you want your bumpers to match, you'll need a matching 73-80 front bumper as well. Personally, on a 81-87...I like the 81-87 sport bumpers...have never seen a 81-87 with 73-80 bumpers I liked.
HOWEVER if you put a 73-80 front clip on your truck, you'll score bonus points with me AND be able to use this bumper with much better results. Just my .02

Re: Score of the week
Well, there's no way that's going to happen now is there, jeff.
I guess the plan is this then... since the deal was still too sweet to pass up... I'll bolt the sucker on on see how I like the look. If I don't like it, I'll run it until I get the 81-87 sport bumper, as I'm sure I won't have any problems selling this bumper for what I've got in it, if not a bit of a profit. Even the ''wrong'' bumper is better than no bumper, or an ugly rollpan.

Wowsers! How do you find a deal like that? If you don't like it on the truck I've got first dibs!

Re: Score of the week
Or . . ..... swap someone that has a nice 81-87 bumper but wants to go w/the earlier 73-80 front clip (& want the F/R bumpers to match).

Re: Score of the week
Not by choice, at the time really... I had it for sale so that I could buy my dad's '63 impala. At the time he was wanting to get rid of it, but when we sat down and talked about what the car meant to me, he decided that he wouldn't sell it. Therefore, the truck build goes on, and the impala is in my garage as I transplant 502'' of GM iron into it for dad's driving pleasure
