Lawman your pto is mounted on the transfer case, hence trans in gear and tc in neutral for operation. Rick, check the adjustment of the cable...sometimes the one on my 1ton dump won't engage unless you let the clutch out a little to turn the trans gears to let the pto gear mesh into place. Could always lay under the truck with the motor off and grab the pto shaft and turn it by hand while trying to engage the pto with the other hand to see if it will go in, just a thought good luck with it, most of them are pretty tough unless run out of lube!!
