air filter question
Is the air filter/cleaner assembly the same on small blocks and big blocks?
If not, can anyone tell me/show me how to tell them apart? Are the BB ones worth anything? |

Re: air filter question
Andy,
As far as I can tell the big block air cleaners are the same as the small block ones. Here is a picture of an original 72 BB air cleaner in my son's truck. Jim

Re: air filter question
The only difference I have seen is if it had a 2bbl carb. I think they had a smaller center.

Re: air filter question
The only difference is the valve that is clamped onto the riser assembly of the spacer under the air cleaner (the part that goes into the valve cover) Big blocks have a metal elbow and are hard to find if you dont have one, sb use a valve and a molded elbow in the rubber hose. The only people this will be valuable to are the ones looking for a correct restore. If you ar planning to replace with chrome etc. save it you never know if you sell the next guy might want to put it back.

Re: air filter question
No difference shown in 1968 Service Manual between engine size...only 6 vs. 8 and heavy trucks vs. light trucks.
