I have removed the doors on my 66 pickup to paint the inside cab. I decided to replace the weatherproofing that seals the door from rain and bought some from LMC truck.
Now that I have finished the paint and replaced the molding, the door doesent fit right at the bottom. It has good spacing on the top and sides but on the bottom it is sticking out about 1/2 inch. Also I have to slam the door hard to make it latch.
Will the molding ever compress enough so that it will close evenly or will I have to try to bend the bottom to fit the truck?
Any body ever had this problem?

You need to allign your doors, it sounds like the lower door hinge needs to be brought in towards the cab

I have tried adjusting the hinges,and it helped. I will go again this weekend and do it again.

I remember a previous thread about this problem with the weatherstrips. If I remember correctly the weatherstrips will eventually relax with use. So just go out and open and shut the doors a couple hundred times.

The weatherstrip relaxes, not by opening and shutting the doors repeatedly, but by leaving the doors shut. The constant pressure will conform the weatherstrip to the body lines. Allowing it to sit in the sun will accelerate the process.

I regards to your slamming issue......I had the same problem with the lmc weatherstriping I bought for my 62. I had to SLAM the doors to get them to properly latch. Finally, 1 year later, my driver's side door is starting to close with a light slam. They seem to break in, but it takes time..... I was considering re-buying some from a vendor on this site I had heard good things about (gmcpauls), but I don't want to deal with the break-in again.....
