Re: Does a 71 have a vin plate on the dash?
I have no problem being able to pump my own gas- I haven't seen a full service gas station in years around here!

Re: Does a 71 have a vin plate on the dash?
Thats no joke, there WAS a full service gas station in my hometown but it went under as with alot of things. I to had the same problem when I insured my '71, went to the website and added the truck no problem right.....wrong. Two days later I get a form in the mail about the VIN on the truck. Called them and the guy at LEAST tried to understand why there are only 10 numbers in my VIN. Sheesh think it was Rocket science or something sometimes.

Re: Does a 71 have a vin plate on the dash?
Where did you have the vin inspection done,,,or try to?
If you went to the dmv,,,,thats why! Take it to the Sheriff's Office or Colorado State Patrol. You should be able to call them and find out details on when is a good time or if you need to set up an appointment, and what they charge to do it. Not all Sheriff's Offices do it in Colorado though. You may be able to have a Trooper or Deputy show up at your work and do it. It only takes a few minutes if your just changing states. If you have vin problems(vin # wrong somewhere, vin plate has been changed or tampered with, or moved) you will need a certified vin inspection and those take several weeks before you get your paper work back to take to the dmv. The certified vin the inspector will need to find the vin in several locations on the truck, pull a case number and do a full on investigation of that vehicle/vin. There is a book that shows/tells where to look for the vin number ON EVERY VEHICLE MADE, typically if the inspector is certified to do certified Vin's they will have that book. All they have to do is fill out 1 form and run your vin through ccic and ncic for any record for a normal vin inspection. Trust me I know exactly what is involved in getting a vin inspection. Frank
