Re: cheapest rear mounted gas tank
$25 junkyard find. This probably won't work on 63-66, but it work great on our 62 (which has a wider frame).
I found a '85 or Suburban in the junk yard. Had the 34 gallon tank, straps, sending unit. I bought the whole thing (including 1/4 tank of stale gas) for $25. We took out the cross member just behind the axle and built a new one for the rear of the frame. We bolted hook the tank straps the to crossmember that is over the axle and to the new rear crossmember. Hooked the fuel line to the vent on the sender. Used another hose to hook the output and input lines from the elc pump to each other, effectively closing thos ports off. Works like a champ. Also put in a 0 - 90 gauge and hooked to the sending unit. Tony |

Re: cheapest rear mounted gas tank
I just don't want the gas smell in the cab,and it gives me more options for my stereo. also provides a little more traction in the rear end.
