Howdy and Good News
Well I have not been on this site for some time now, but I am proud to announce that after a couple of years not working on my truck I am making a triumphant return. I am currently onsite working for my company in east-central Pennsylvania. I am having my truck shipped from Iowa out to here. I should arrive around February 12 and will begin disassembling it on the following week. My friend and I are gong to strip it down to a rolling chassis and hand it off to the body shop. There the Blazer will be cleaned off, sand blasted down, rockers fixed, dents evened out, frame painted, body straightened, new door hardware, and body mounts.
I realize that this might be cheating a bit, but I feel much more comfortable doing all the mechanical work than the body work. I am saving a good bit of money by un-assembling the truck my self and this way I might get it to actually drive it this summer. This will also allow me to replace the old wires with a painless wiring kit and hopefully solve all those grounding. After buying my first blazer as a 17 year old, I am stoked that I will finally have a daily driver that I can be proud of and depend on. Here are a couple of before pics, hopefully I can keep up with this thread |

Re: Howdy and Good News
Sounds like a great project. What are your plans? Stock rebuild? Color?

Re: Howdy and Good News
knowing your own abilities isn't cheating. I'd hire a crew to work on my truck (like Leno) is I had the money (like Leno).
Post progress pics!

Re: Howdy and Good News
I am going with the original color with a clear coat, just keeping simple and cheap. I think that color looks really good and already have a matching interior.

Re: Howdy and Good News
Welcome back from me too! I hear you on letting someone know what they are doing take over the body work. I was going to do my body work and paint and soon decided that was beyond my ability and time.

I haven't decided on the spotlight. It is kinda beat up a bit, and doesn't work. I like the looks of it, we will see if I can rescue it or not.

Re: Howdy and Good News
The trucking company just picked up the blazer in Iowa, It should be out here by wednesday, if the weather works out. A couple of weekends and it should be off to the body shop.

Re: Howdy and Good News
my truck arrived today. Got it unloaded and pushed into the garage. We will start tearing into it on Saturday morning. I hopefully will be posting some pictures then. I need to take pictures just so I can remember how it all goes back together. If anyone else has any suggestions or hints just let me know. As a side note the shipping company that I used was amazing. He picked the truck up in Iowa in negative 12 degree weather, drove through about 5 snow storms and even helped us push the truck into the garage. There name was summit trucking out of Sunbury, PA, I would highly recommend them.
