Electric Fan Question
Read tons of info on the fan conversions and have one of the cherokee fans ready to go. I was wondering if anyone was using the same sending unit for both a fan switch and an electric temp gauge? Seems like it should work, but I haven't heard about anyone who's actually done it. I was thinking about an autometer phantom electric temp gauge and sender. Could I just splice in one of these? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=252640
Thanks, Tony

Re: Electric Fan Question
the temp gauge senders run on resistance. you need one that would be for a dummy light that is an off on. but then it would be too hot then for the fan to come on.

It's a catastrophic success.

Re: Electric Fan Question
Like "cameeks" said. The warning sending unit is to high a setting to control your fans.

Re: Electric Fan Question
Thanks, I wasn't thinking in terms of resistance. Makes sense. In the link sneaky posted there are gauges that control devices with an additional circuit, but it gets expensive... Think I'll just use the Jegs thermo switch and a relay setup. That'll let me keep my manual gauge and save some $.
