speedometer reading
forgive my ignorance but sitting here at work (not in front of my dash cluster) i started wondering because I have not seen my gauge cluster for a long time what does the speedometer go up to on the 72 trucks?. and if I recall it was like 80 mph is this right?. and is there anyone out there that has a speedometer that goes higher with the MPH

Re: speedometer reading
all 67 - 72 speedos read to 100, and the needle will go back to zero before it 'pegs' and won't go any firther, which is right at 130 MPH.

I've always wondered what when in the 3rd hole on the cluster on the bottom, Oil, temp, ?, Amp. Is it a clock option?? or just there for the jell of it.

Re: speedometer reading
on a 10, 20, or 30 series, the blank hole was blank on every single truck that came down the assembly line.
On 40 series and up, it could be blank, could have a vac guage, or, if it had air brakes, an air guage. wrench bender, I've had one of my trucks up to the M on MPH at the bottom of the guage... 115 - 118 MPH or so. However, if you ever have one apart, and push the needle with your finger, you'l see it stops at zero. |
