70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
I just got myself a 1970 Chevy C20 Custom Camper. I am in the process of looking for parts, but I have not been able to locate parts specifically for this truck (custom camper).
Do you guys know what is the difference between the 1970 Chevy C20 Custom Camper and the 1970 Chevy C20 Custom? Thanks |

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
custom camper is nothing but HD shocks, HD tires, HD springs OR overload springs, an anti sway bar, and badges.

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
we have more info than you could ever ask for... what exactly is it you need to know? Have you tried searching to locate tthe info?
Like I said, the custom camper is nothing but an option package, and not much of one either I might add. otherwise, it is simply a c/20 |

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
I like this truck pretty much the way it is and want to maintain it as original as possible. But are there some modifications that are typically done to this truck to improve it. Do people typically change the front brakes to disk, or is it alright to keep the drums? Also, are there any other modifications you guys recommend?

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
Longhorn Man's right, the Custom Camper is just an option package. My truck is a 72 Custom Camper. Other than the package my truck is a Custom Deluxe 20. Mine also came with dual batteries, dual tanks and camper wiring. As long as the drums are working, I'd leave them if you want to stay original. The main thing people change is the 2 piece split rims...

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
ditto what 72CustomCamper says. That's the one thing I cahanged on my '69.Mine came with tubes and bias-ply tires. Get some regular 8 lug rims from pickyour part,I think they give you credit for the old ones. Then get some radials if you don't already.
Otherwise it's sometimes hard to find a shop that will work on those split-rims. Welcome frrom the SFV.

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
The drums are OK in the 34 ton trucks, in 1/2 ton they are kinda lame... drive it and see what you think.
I highly recomend swapping out the points type distributor for an HEI unit, esp if this is a daily driver. There's a lot of things that can be swapped that helps out, and the more it's drivin, the nicer it is to modify... it hall depends on how hellbent you are on keeping it original... or just original-ish. |

Re: 70 Chevy C20 Custom Camper
One thing about the CustomCamper option that guys keep overlooking is it was only available with an optional motor. This isn`t listed in the brochures, but is in the dealer order guide.
