Re: what backspacing for bagged 68

20x8.5 with 5.75 BS for the front
and 20x10 with 4.75 BS for the rear

255x40 front
295x40 rear

This is what I have on my 68 but you may want to go to 5.00 BS on the rear. I had to do some mods on the inner metal on the bed to clear the tire. I wanted the tire as close to the lip as possible so that is the reason I went with the 4.75, the 5.00 might resolve this issue.

Hope this helps.

The '73 rear is 1.5" wider. You will need more backspacing- like 5.5 on a 10" wheel. You can get away with 5.25 on the front with an 8.5" wheel...

Is this the setup you used on the "Extreme Makeover" truck(lucy)? Stock '68 rear on that one, with '73-87 front crossmember using stock arms?

Just checking - if so, my ride is cloes enough to the same, only I'm using ART arms.

Yes, that's the set-up.

Up front, an 8" wheel uses 5.25 BS; 8.5" wheel uses the 5.75" BS. The 71-87 rears need more BS than 67-70 rears because the 71 & later housings are wider.

We both are using 68 rear housings. N2Billet left his wheel tubs the factory width & re-worked the inner-tub thats tucked up between the inner/outer bed-walls. I mini-tubbed mine 1.75" & left the inner-tub alone. Either way works.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
