small dilemma
Hi all. I don't post on here much, but I read up a lot of days (kinda shy I guess
![]() Currently I have 295/50 rear and 275/50 front on 15x10 rims all around. I want my next set of tires to be about an inch taller and an inch narower fr+r compared to what's on there, to better fit in the wheel wells so I was thinking 275/60 rear and 255/60 front. I'm not sure of the backspacing of my rims, but I'm pretty sure it was the only bs available. I have included pictures for you all to give any opinions you may have. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, I like the look of the bfg's but since I live on the wet coast I need something with a bit better wet rating. These are the tires I'm thinking of, yokohama avid s/t. Any opinions on these would be greatly appreciated too. ![]() Thanks in advance |

Clean little small window
![]() Try this site for wheels, free shipping in the lower 48 if you have a buddy on the south side of the border. http://www.newstalgiawheel.com/default.asp try out the wheel visualizer program they have on the site and you can raise/lower your vehicle and paint it along with re-sizing the tires & wheels. |

Re: small dilemma
thanks for the complements guys.
The bumper is off an early 90's chevy. I like it because it looks decent and I don't mind stepping on it with my boots when I actually use it as a truck! thanks A.R. for the wheel visualizer, that will help a lot when I have the cash to buy new wheels. Right now I just need new tires to get this thing back on the road next week. Sooo anybody have any insight on the fitment of the 255/60's on 10 inch wide rims and also some opinions or experience with the yokohama's? |

Re: small dilemma
255 will work on a 10 inch wheel, that's about as small a tire I'd want to run on a 10 incher. I had a set on my old GMC... 255/60 in front and 275/60 out back. Looked good.

Re: small dilemma
As a general rule.. you want the wheel to be 90% of the tire section width -- 10" wide tire get a 9" wide wheel. That said, you can go above or below this (to a point). 255 on a 10" would be about as far as you can go (agree with Longhornman..). Be careful around curbs though since you'll be more likely to grind up the wheel if you rub the cub.

Re: small dilemma
Agreed with hdflstf. Instead of the side wall having a nice rounded edge to help protect the rims, the side walls may angle in, and expose the rims.

Re: small dilemma
Welcome from Georgia. I know how it is to be shy, I have social anxiety so trust me, I know all about that. It's kinda relaxing posting on these boards though, I think mostly because I'm posting about something I love and the guys on here are really cool and don't act like immature idiots. A friend of mine has those exact same tires on his '87 and he likes them. They seem to be a great tire. I like the tread pattern on those tires. Sweet truck man, love the 67/68 front ends.

Re: small dilemma
Love the truck... bumblebee style. Don't be shy we won't bite or track you down and rape you, lol! 'Bout the rims though, they should be just fine.
