Eaton/Corp rear axle ID???

How do I know if I have one of these? Can you tell by just looking at it? I can get some pics of the axle if someone knows by just looking. Thanks

Thanks Yukon Jack. What are the pros and cons of the Eaton axles?

The drop out center section is cool, they are very strong, you can eat a salad out of the rear diff cover, they are old so limited parts, not sure if there is an easy disk brake swap. Mine has a factory Detroit Locker called a No-Spin in it and what a difference that makes - it will go places in 2wd that my 4wd Yukon can't go.

Give Randy Ring and Pinion a call, I think they have a website. I don' know on the gears if there is anything in the 3 range but I think they go up to 5.3 something.

Yea I think mine are 4.57s. Are these worth anything to sell because I would like to get a 10 bolt or something? Anyone know what the website for that place Yukon mentioned..."Randy Ring and Pinion."Thanks

Ring and pinion are available in 3.90, 4.10, 4.56. The 3.90 is an aftermarket and is the lowest numerically available. Other parts such as spiders are not available new. The pinion bearing is very expensive. The axles are 17 spline and in my opinion is the weakest part of the rear.
I swapped mine out and put in a 14 bolt FF.

Ok then, i already researched the HO72. And found that the lowest is a 3.9 ratio. What is the same width as a 72 3/4 ton dana 44. Can i find a stock 14 bolt FF that width? Also what are some low 3 ratio gears that are the same in both the 14 bolt and dana 44

The width of the 14 bolt is about an 1.5" wider if I remember. The shock mounts and the spring perches have to be relocated. I did these myself if you have a good grinder w/cutoff wheel and a welder.
Common ratios are the 3.73 which is probably in the 14 bolt already. Others are something down in the 3.2"s. I went to a couple of web sites and just checked what was available for each. I kind of was shooting for 3.54 but later I found it wasn't available for the Dana 44. So I've got 3.73.

Looks like a 12 bolt corp to me. I believe those gears are possible in those.

The 12 bolt would be semi-floater his is a full floater. I believe that the only thing that comes close in width to the front dana 44 from a 3/4 ton is a 14 bolt from under a chevy van. GM had the two different widths so in a turn the front end would track closer to the front end turning radius i.e through the front foot print.
