73-87 cab on 67-72 frame? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just wondering if anyone has done this, still keeping the 67-72 fenders/hood etc just changing the cab. The doors have different lines I believe but that could be modified. I was thinking about a crew cab conversion and you could just use an 73-87 crew cab pretty easily if this worked just take some work to make the doors "flow". Just a crazy idea running in my head, happens all the time lol

I was thinking about it with the next gen. after that. 88-98. I think you'd have an easier time lining up the body lines on one of those. Only reason I thought of that was The beds on those line up so well on 67-72 stepsides.

Ya I was thinking about that too, only thing I'm thinking of is the front fenders lining up

You also have ti deal with that the cab is longer. Remember the 67-72 frame is shorter and since the beds are the same length I believe alkl the difference is in the cab length. Putting a larger cab on a shorter frame will definitely mess up your alignment.

WELCOME to the board.
Wouldn`t you want to use the CrewCab frame and just graft the earlier clip?I don`t see how it could ever be made to mate-up.The lines and demensuions are very different.Have you done a sketch?Try running this across the photo-choppers.If they can`t make it look good I doubt reality would be any better.

Ya I agree, I thought about a crew cab frame and grafting everything to it, or I can always lengthen the frame to accept the new crewcab and brace/box it. Just a crazy idea I had, maybe something to try down the road lol. Here's a pic of the 60-61 62-66 body kit on a 88-98 truck (so kinda similar in how it will look)

I`m not feelin`it.It looks like the vehicles they used to use in ads so as to not favor one brand or the other.
