Gauge cluster change out
Seems to be the season for instrument changes. I just got this one done, took a ride and useing the GPS the speedo (adjustable) is off a little, but everything else works - much to my surprise!
The dark gauges are what was in it, and the cream color are the new Classic Instrument set I just put in. I think they match the interior a little better. The bottom row of the new set is; Boost/Vacuum (no need for boost, [yet] but had to fill the hole, and vacuum was useful) Air Pressure (Currently the green needle reads the rear bags, if I bag the front the red one will read them) Fuel Guage Oil Pressure The tiny dot in the middle above the temp/volt gauge is a fiber optic high beam indicator. It was an experiment, but it worked out well.

Re: Gauge cluster change out
I looked at the first pic and thought "Why would anybody change those?". But the new ones look great with the interior. I most always prefer stock, but these look a lot better. Good choice.

Re: Gauge cluster change out
Those do look very good I like how you have chosen to lay it out and the Bag gauge looks Ace, when you swap out old Gauges for replacement how do you get the modern electric hookups at the back to work with the printed circut for the origianals or do you have to find replacement gauges that have the same layout on the back so that it will all plug right in.

Re: Gauge cluster change out
Thanks for the kind comments!
Eightbanger, the whole thing is electric (except the vacuum and air pressure). The kit came with new sending units (oil and Water) and the speedo generator. I picked up a Painless wireing harness to simplify the installation, which includes a new harness plug. You push out the sending unit wires from the old harness plug and match them to the new connector plug. Everything was ordered at the same time to be sure everything would hook up correctly.

Re: Gauge cluster change out
Clos69, up here where I live fog is pretty common, and if it's dark and foggy the cab lights make you feel like you're driving around inside a pumpkin. They cut down the vis to the point of being dangerous.
The solution to me was to be able to turn them off if I wanted to, but if they're on the headlight switch you can't do that. I could have mounted a toggle somewhere, but the truck has driving lights too, so that would mean two toggle switches. What I ended up doing was buying another headlight switch and mounting it under the choke knob. There's already a hole in the dash, I just had to drill the bezel. Now, on the second switch the parking light position is cab lights, and all the way out (headlight position) is cab lights and driving lights. I'm in the process of making a factory-looking label to match the rest of them.

Re: Gauge cluster change out
PT'S,
I'm going to hang onto the originals for a while. I've had a couple of PM's about them and told them the same thing. Thanks for the interest.
