How do i change the neutral saftey switch on a 87 S10 blazer.. or better yet how do i find out if its bad???

try putting it in nuetral.. to see if it starts. i dont remember how much they cost. i believe on the s-10 blazer they are on the top of the column somewhere. its been 4-5yrs since i changed on.. the one on my truck went out.. had to drop the column both times i have had to do it......

alright i will try that. but if that doesnt work how do i get to the switch? i need to get a digital camera and take some pic.. that would help

To get to the switch you need to take apart the lower part of the dash near the steering column, you then need to unbolt and drop the column down. The switch should be about half way down the column. You need to unplug the harness and remove either two or three screws that hold it on. I'm not the best at directions so it might be easier to get a haynes manual and use it.

Technically it is illegal but I have seen people in the public library copying the pages they need for their repair instead of buying a manual.

LOL i never even thought about that... or i could go to the library and use the library card that i've had since like 4th grade!!.....but only if i knew wehre it was...

hey there should be 2 wires runnin into the switch when you find it,,,,,,a quick easy fix is to just cut both wires and twist them together,,,just be careful cause it wil start in gear now,,,but it save the cost of the switch..
