t 5 tranny
Hey I know where a t-5 five speed tranny out of a camaro with a v-6 is for sale, has anyone matched up one in these trucks? my 73 has a 250-6 and four speed granny right now. would love more of a car type feel and the extra gear would be nice. thanks bob

Re: t 5 tranny
Not sure on the actual details of the swap, but what I DO know is the T5 is a sissy of a transmission. They can't handle much torque at all......kind of a "grenade with the pin pulled" sort of deal. If you go that route, baby it and no quick shifting!

Re: t 5 tranny
I know there's at least one guy here with a I6 pushing a T5. Yes, it's weak transmission. GM would not put one behind anything bigger than an 305 V8, so thats a good rule of thumb to follow as far as power handling. I think it would be fine behind a 250 I6 as long as you took care of it.

Re: t 5 tranny
thanks for the info, I think the guy's asking 60 bucks for it, I was thinking about it. I wonder what it would take to adapt it in. thanks again bob

Re: t 5 tranny
you can take the t5 and swap the internals with z28 camaro internals and gears and the work pretty good. my buddy has one in his s10 with a 400 crank horse 350 and he flogs on it all day every day for a year now.
shouldndt take much to get to work just the right bell housing and stuff
