Radio or Speaker problem?
When I turn the original AM radio on in the truck at full blast on a quiet night I can just barely hear it. Do you think the radio has a problem or the speaker has gone bad?
P.S. I have good hearing

Re: Radio or Speaker problem?
id wager on a blown speaker, if the radio is still pushing sound even to the smallest extent its probly not bad unless u broke some stuff in the radio dukes of hazzarding ur truck reaently

Re: Radio or Speaker problem?
The antenna can cause low volume also. If you have a known good antenna, try plugging it in before pulling the radio.

Re: Radio or Speaker problem?
Has it ever worked? Here's what I did would do.
First check it with another speaker and if volume is still low, take the radio out and give the volume knob variable resistor a good cleaning with elecro clean. One last thing is to make sure the antenna has a good clean connection and adjust the pod under the tuner knob for maximum reception... |

Re: Radio or Speaker problem?
in my assembly instruction book it give a procedure for peaking the antenna trimmer
1. set antenna mast at a height of 31+/- 1.0 inches 2. set volume control knob at max volume 3.tume radio to a signal at or near 1400 kc 4. adjust antenna trimmer screw(+/-2 screw rotation) until maximum volume is received 5. turn receiver off try this I hope this will help

Re: Radio or Speaker problem?
67CHIP72, good to hear you found your problem... Now, when you get it all fixed you can help me out. See if you have an AM station beyond 1510 or higher in your area and see if you can get it. I can't seem to get a 1620 station that we have in our area....
Check in here to see if you do... http://www.radio-locator.com/ |

Re: Radio or Speaker problem?
You have these staions that may be available depending on your reception.
KMPC 1540 AM 32.6 mi. Los Angeles, CA Asian KBLA 1580 AM 35.2 mi. Santa Monica, CA Spanish KAHZ 1600 AM 27.4 mi. Pomona, CA Asian KFOX 1650 AM 34.9 mi. Torrance, CA Asian If you can't get any of these, even faintly, I think that tells me that it's our old radios. Maybe they can't go beyond the low 1500's. Thanks. |
