74-C20 tranny crossmember

I have a problem with my tranny crossmember being in the way of the rear tranny pan bolts. Is this because it is a 3/4 ton? I have owned a '79 blazer 4x4 (was stolen )and I don't remember that cross member being in the way. Oh by the way my 74 is a 2wd. Any help? maybe one of you guys could crawl under your 1/2 ton trucks to see if you can get to your rear bolts

So I guess the changing of the tranny fluid and filter is a weekend job when you can unbolt the crossmember and get to them ? What have you found to be the easiest way to change the filter/tranyy fluid?

So your saying I don't have to unbolt the crossmember from the frame? I can get a wrench on the bolt over the crossmember?

i went through this on my 74 1/2 ton.to get to the back bolts i needed to jack the tranny off of the crossmember, used a wobbly extension to get to the bolts then lower it back down and the rest were easy to get to.its really not that hard to do.i thought it would be but it proved differently.
