283 Turbo-Fire 170 Horsepower ?

Seen this on ebay, what does the turbo fire mean?

nope, but i have a 327 w/ 275 hp also, where can i get one of those stickers?

Stretching my old memory, I think Turbo -fire was a designation given the the smallblocks by GM. They also had the turbo-Jet as a BB designation....if my memory didnt work right, Im sure somebody will tell you "square".......crazyL

i think we have a 350 out of a 71 camaro or somethin that has a turbo-fire sticker on it, not sure what it means but would it produce any more horsepower than a regular one or be better or what??

i think youre right, it was just the name of that era of chevy smallblocks. kinda like the buicks big blocks were called nailheads etc...

Turbo Fire was nothing more than advertising hype, just like Turbo-Hydramatic transmissions and GMC INVADER V8's
** Words like "Turbo", "JET" , and "FIRE" just sound more powerful.

ive been on e bay for 20 min and cant find a red 327 turbo fire 275 hp decal, i see gold and black rectangular ones but i want a red one...can someone help please..thatwould look awesome on the air cleaner...

You can find those decals at the bigger swap meets, most vendors has em'. 2-3 bucks ea.

you can get them from any chevelle,nova, or camaro resto parts co. yes crazy is right, turbo fire is small block and turbo jet is big block
