License Plate Lamp Wiring?

I need to run a license plate lamp for NC inspection, I bought a generic one with one wire, how do i hook this thing up?. There are 2 existing wires that look like I should just plug the new one in, but nothing happens when I splice into them. Can I pull ower from somewhere else? Is the new light need a ground?

Re: License Plate Lamp Wiring?

Find the brown wire that is the wire for your tail lights and you can splice into it and it will work and the light doesn't need to be grounded it grounds to where you mounted it

Re: License Plate Lamp Wiring?

you should test the wires that have the two prongs when the lights are on with a test light the aftermarket you bought prolly has to be grounded to the bumper of the truck to work otherwise the taillight is the easiest solution
