What is this part?
Tonight we stripped down my 350 to get cleaned for painting it and we came acrossed this part. I was wondering what it is and what does it do?

another angle it mounts just to the left of the white tape towards the bottom of the picture. oh it is off a 350 fuel injected. thanks for the help. |

EGR valve- exhaust gas recirculation. It helps clean up emissions & control pinging by re- burning a small amount of exhaust gases. If you take it off your TBI motor (by installing a block off plate) it will cause the check engine light to come on. You would need a custom burned chip to keep the light out. I'd reccomend leaving it functional.
