Re: will 5 lug axles swap into 14 bolt rear end?

You may be able to get custom axles made for the semi floating 6 lug 14blt,but then you'd have to figure out brakes. Are you wanting a bigger rear axle for hauling/towing?The whole idea of the full floating rear is for the load weight rating. OR you could swap everything over to 6lug. Use a 14blt 6lug rear then order the 6lug rotors form places like ECE or Brothers. But I have never seen 5lug 14blt asxles. Good Luck

Re: will 5 lug axles swap into 14 bolt rear end?

i have a 12 bolt rear now, and its got 3.07 gears i believe. I have a semi floating 14 bolt with 3.73 gears already. I want something that can take the beating of a strong 350 with better gears. Just currious if i could save dough by using the 14 bolt with 5 lug axles, but it doesn't seem that way. Thanks for the reply.

454SS' used 14bolt semi-floats with 5x5.
Unless you building a drag truck that spends all of its time at the strip the 12bolt can handle the abuse of a strong 350. A 10 bolt will also, and they are both lighter than a 14bolt.

did not know that the 454SS's had sf14 5x5. Learn something new everyday!

But Chris is right, your 12blt will hold up just fine. You can build it to handle just about anything you can throw a it. OR put together a 9".

Re: will 5 lug axles swap into 14 bolt rear end?

is it possible to slip 2wd, 5 lug, open 10 bolt axles into a 4x4, 6 lug, posi 10 bolt rear end? I think i read somewhere that it is possible. I have a gov-locked 1/2 ton 4x4 rear end? Will this take much abuse?
