Locked out...
So heres the deal, my drivers door lock keeps getting jambed in the locked position. It takes some time playing around with the key in the lock and pulling on the stick thing, idk what its called, that comes up at the top of the door in order to get it unlocked.
After i get it unlocked, with the door open, i can unlock and lock it repeatedly witht he key with no jambing. If i close the door witht he key in the lock, i can unless lock and unlock without a problem. But if i close the door without the key in the cylinder, it gets jambed, and takes another 10 min playin around with it to get it to unlock. Does anyone have past experience with this or have an idea of what is wrong? I would be takin the door panel off right now, but the po stripped, like really stripped, the heads on the screws that hold the handle on. I dont have my easy outs with me so ill have to try vise grips or something, but if anyone has an idea, please reply, thanks. Sorry for the long post...carry on... BRAD

Re: Locked out...
Try this: Press the handle release button in when it gets "jammed". See if that makes a difference...

Re: Locked out...
might also try pulling or pushing on the door while unlocking. I have had allingment issues before that caused such problems on my 89 jeep.

Re: Locked out...
pull off your door panel and watch the mechanism and make sure it isnt bent or anything other than that 9 of 10 times its just a bit of lube it needs

Re: Locked out...
SO i ended up getting off the panel after a little battle with some screws, and it looks fine, i think it just needs some wd40 and stuff, lol. Ive found that if u pull with the right pressure on the door handle, it will open...
Thanks for the help guys... BRAD

Re: Locked out...
My 77 does the exact same thing on the drivers side ocassionally. I'm guessing it just needs to be lubed ?

Yea, im thinkin that as well. It looks pretty grungy down in there, so ill take it aprat once i finish with school in a bout a week and fix it all up, ill just have to find the trick to getting it open every time for now, plus the little querks (sp, lol) are always fun, its an anti-theft device even though u have the key, lol

Re: Locked out...
Did you try just pushing the button before unlocking? Generally there is some binding on the mechanism and needs some lube but pushing the button will release it...
