Re: your first car

My first car was a 1970 Camaro. It was a factory big block/4 speed SS car, but had a 307/4 speed in it when i got it. Back in 1981 it was just a worn out, used up old Camaro. Dad paid 500 bucks for it. It was in primer and the 4 speed jumped out of 2nd gear if you didn't hold the shifter firmly in gear. We painted it a "custom mixed" blue. By "custom mixed",i mean Dad mixed 4 or 5 different colors of blue paint together that they had left over at the body shop he worked at. I totalled it in 1984 when a man pulled out in front of me.

Re: your first car

First was a 77 GMC 3/4ton 4x4. I was in body shop in Vo-Tech and found it as a wreck. Rebuilt it front to back. Dad and I rebuilt the 350 slightly warmed over, 8 inch lift and 44" mudders. (1983 that was the popular thing to do). 2 months after I finished it, my parents filed for bankruptcy and the court forced the sale of the truck because "the family" was allowed to keep only 2 vehicles, and minors weren't eligible to keep anything above and beyond the 2.

Needless to say, never fully have forgiven them for that, because 3 summers of working to pay for that truck fully by myself was lost. My parents did however try to make up for it 3 years (yes I said 3 years) later with a 300.00 69 ford f100. Didn't make up for it. Only ford I have ever owned and or will ever own. I had invested 4200.00 of my money and time to have it replaced with a 300.00 POS? Don't even get me started. Nothing like getting screwed by your own parents.
