th400 tranny spacers Longhorn related?
had to swap out a th400 from a longhorn into a stepside yesterday. I noticed that the longhorn th400 had 2 spacers installed above the tranny mount and the stepside had none. does anyone know if this is correct?
thanks Solver

Re: th400 tranny spacers
I sounds right. They would be "correcting" the driveline angle because the carrier bearing is further away and that would take some of the angle away. I don't know if it is a "factory " thing though, or an adjustment that someone made in a effort to solve a vibration or something.
There are some "Longhorn" experts that may chime in here and know for sure. I will edit your Title and see if one comes along. |

Re: th400 tranny spacers Longhorn related?
Don't know if this helps, but our 71 C20 came with a 3/8 spacer between the tranny and mount. It uses a TH350. We added a spacer on the 1970 to help the engine sit more level.

Re: th400 tranny spacers Longhorn related?
if I'm not mistaken, all big block trucks had a sppacer between the mount and the cross member.
The only addition on the longhorn, is a spacer between the bottom of the frame rail to the tranny cross member due to the added height of the taller frame. |

I think the first guy is talking about the spacer between the trans. and the trans. mount, not the crossmember.
