I saw a thread here a while back on different methods of removing cab while attached to front clip at same time without much dissassembly. Anybody have that saved, and wont mind reposting would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I've never seen that thread and not sure how it would really work. I'm interested in knowing how just out of curiosity. I would think it would be easier to seperate the cab and clip, but maybe i'm wrong.

your alot better off removing the front clip first.. done a bunch and itsbetter that way.

I think there was a post that Txfirefighter was in that had a pic. I believe he used a tractor to move it. Then again my memory isn't what it used to be sometimes.

When I swapped my 84 over to a short frame we left the front clip on the cab. Used 3 come-alongs, rolled one chassis out & the other back under. Pretty easy. No idea on this body style though...

If I remmemmber correctly, it had a cherry picker on front to pick up on radiator core support, then had a comealong lifting cab at same time. I thought that was a great method, wished I would have saved that

We have removed the cab and clip as a unit on several occassions. We use two 1/2 ton chain falls, one on each end.

Ahh i can see where that would come in handy. I was thinking you wanted to do that by lifting on the cab only. Wasn't sure how that was gonna work at all. I can see where timing is everything

Those chicken-barn steel truss "pole barn" type buildings are great for interior clear-height !!!

A company not too far from here sells the components, or sends out a crew to build them, with either straight box tube vertical legs or truss/web vertical legs.

This is not a commercial or an offer of services, but several years ago, I used to build a few of them commercially, & did some both ways. Pretty stout building, & pretty cheap for enclosing a lot of space. The vertical tube legs allow more interior clear-width, but they cost just a bit more.

Can use 2x4 wood purlins or light weight metal Z-purlins to support the exterior skin.
