Hoods

My question would be who makes them, and where are they stamped out ? Some are junk, don't fit for ----, some others are real thin metal and flimsy tin. Are they to GM factory specs? If they meet the quality and specs, thats a good buy for $309. I'd buy one for that , if thier good ones. Let us know.

Only Goodmark makes steel cowl hoods that meet GM standards. They are so good that they are actual licensed restoration parts for our trucks.

A PERFECT FIT !!!!!

Just bought a "REFLEXXIONS" steel cowl hood from Michael at CUSTOM CLASSICS. It fits PERFECT !!! I live in Memphis so Michael set me up with a warehouse pickup (at REFLEXXIONS). I was very impressed with the product.

SEE MY POST - BEST COWL HOOD MANUFACTURE? on the

Cowl Hoods.....

I have a couple of point to make.....

Goodmark PAID (and is still paying) GM to certify their hoods......that's why they cost more and why we do not carry them any longer (except the muscle cars).

Second, I can get Reflexxions Cowl Hoods for 81-87 GM Trucks...they are $349 on sale, not $309. That price is from another company that has a split cowl design. They are stamped by the same Chinese factories that stamp Reflexxions and Goodmark and they do fit well.......I like selling Reflexxions because I have never had one complaint...which I can't say for other manufacturers.

Third, We deliver within a 1 hour radius for $10 and a 1 1/2 hour radius of Dallas for $20 and we can meet in the middle as well.
For everyone else, Reflexxions has a warehouse in Memphis, Dallas, of course, and in Phoenix. I can set up pick ups from them all or have shipping calculated from them all.

Anyway, Wolfman, I am glad you like your hood and I am glad I could help!

Have a great day Y'all!

Wow, talking about straight from the horses mouth! Can't get much better than that. I'll keep these hoods in mind as mine is ugly and crimped!!

Thumbs up

I think this is one of the coolest features of this board. A place where we can finds parts at good prices and also good quality.

I tried for a very long time to get something like this started over at the "other place", but it was never going to happen.

LOL They're so opressive over there!

You're right, I never saw any professional posts like this one over there. It's great to have sources like Custom1 around.

Makes me rethink a cowl hood being that close to me. Wonder what mine would look like with one?

Well the $309 was on your website thats why I used that. Do your cowl hoods have a grate over the opening to prevent things like trash being thrown in under the cowl?

Does Reflexxion make cowl hoods for 73-80? Didn't see them listed or I may have missed it.

They do have a mesh....

The $309 Price was for the split cowl...LONG story...but we now have the standard cowl from Reflexxions.

I recently purchased another companies Reflexxions stock....and there is a guy that wants the only 81-87 (91) hood we acquired.....If he backs out next week, I will probably post it on Auction......

Yes, the 73-80's are on the way! Spoke to Reflexxions a couple of days ago about them.....Just waiting now for confirmation...

Also, just for the info, we also carry steel pans for 55-up Stepside, 67-72, 73-87, and all late model fleet side beds.........

AND soon to have a front end conversion kit to 91 Suburban.....
(That's my shameless plug!)

Y'all have a great Weekend!

Another place I found for inexpensive hoods for 81-87 chevy is AIM industries in Mesa, Arizona. They sell for $229. The 73-80 cowl hood unfortunately is $385!!! (Unfortunate for me: I have a 1980)

I am not sure of the quality of these hoods since I do not have one, but I am just letting everyone know.

I would not buy a pencil from AIM, you get what you pay for plus they add EXTRA cost which are higher than normal such as handling / boxing / shipping / taxes. True you will pay most of these with anyone but, than seem to have higher FEES!!! I bought a "REFLEXXION" steel cowl hood as I posted earlier in this post. The fit is as good as STOCK! It took me 10 minutes to install and line up. The gaps on both sides are PERFECT. I wouldn't buy another brand after the way this one fit.
