Blazer Push Bar

Found this locally. I have not seen it in person, but these are the pictures he sent me. Is this a correct Blazer push bar? Do the tow hooks mount like this? I can't see well enough to know if the tow hooks are correct. Any thoughts?

Re: Blazer Push Bar

The Hickey brochure on your site shows a push bar that looks very similar. It even looks like it might have the tow hooks on the sides.

Re: Blazer Push Bar

That is similar to the guard I have on my Jimmy, but I have the original tow hooks, and the Sidewinder winch.

From that pic, it looks like the era specific ones had 3 crossbars

Re: Blazer Push Bar

There was no guard like this from factory and there were a few companies other than Hickey.House of Steel and Smittybuilt were just getting going and Cepek and others had them.I made one,as I`m sure many did.Mine had 3/8" side-plates and 2 1/2" schedule 40 tubes. We always put a tube at the bottom between the hooks.Didn`t take long to figure out when you hook up to those hooks and pull, the side-plates bend in.

Re: Blazer Push Bar

Jimmy72custom....been looking for a sidewinder winch for my chalet for a while now. So far the only thing i have my hands on is a period ramsey 8K lb. that has a hidden kit to mount behind the bumper that needs some electrical work. I like more pictures of the winch sometime. Also do you have any original paperwork for that winch i could get scans of?

Re: Blazer Push Bar

Those Hickeys were a pain to spool. It took alot of extra effort to keep the cable from going to the bottom.I`d love to have one too, just the same.I`d like to have anything Hickey.

Re: Blazer Push Bar

That brush guard and tow hooks are exactly what I have on my blazer. The original owner said that it was dealer installed (not on glove box sticker) along with roll bar, swing away tire carrier etc etc. There are a lot of items from the hickey catolog on my blazer that he said were dealer installed before he bought it. ??

Re: Blazer Push Bar

Doug I can post some pics of winch soon , and I do have some paper work I may be able to scan.
I think the down fall of the Sidewinder winch is that the top of the spool will hold water like a bowl. and it slowly finds it way into the gear box. Just my guess. I found water in the box when I changed the gear oil.

Nice blazer....i really like that HE equiptment!

Poster is huge...shows all their products. And i'm not wanting to sell it. When we sell the house i'm going to build a new garage and have it framed.

Re: Blazer Push Bar

I took very detailed measurements and made a template for a board member based off the push bar on my 70 K5. The board member was going to make a cad file but never heard anything further. I'll look at the office tomorrow for the specs and see if I kept a copy of the template.

Re: Blazer Push Bar

Just remembered I have more pics on my website that are large sized in the following directory:

http://yukon.b0xen.us/70blazer/brushguard/

Very surprised to see the brush guard is installed with just two bolts per side.

The measurements are as follows:

Sides 3/8" thick
Tubing 2 3/4" wide

The tubes measure 28 1/2" long.

The top tube is 7/16" down from the top of the side frame.

The second tube is 8" below the top tube, measured from the bottom of the first tube to the top of the second tube.

The bolt that secures the brush guard to behind the bumper is located 2 3/8" from the top of that piece. The tab that secures the brush guard to the bumper uses an existing bumper hole.
