Auto to manual tranny
I want to swap my th350 tranny with a manual of some sort. I was thinkin a 5 speed but I really have no idea what tranny I would need to find. Has anyone done this and what all is needed to make it work?

Re: Auto to manual tranny
I did the reverse of this swap on my '67. I went from a 3 spd floor shift manual tranny to a column shift 700r4. So I'll try and list the parts that I took out of my truck and that should be 90% of the parts you'll need to put into yours.
- clutch pedal assembly - transmission crossmember - longer driveline - floor shifter You might want to change steering columns if you have a column shifter so as not to confuse people. I would recommend checking out LMC and looking at their parts diagrams (especially the clutch assembly) so you can visualize all the tiny parts you are going to need. Good luck. |

Re: Auto to manual tranny
I don’t know the specifics on your truck but I am assuming it’s a 2wd ½ ton. If so, I would look for a NV3500 5 speed from an 88+ full size truck. It won’t be a direct swap into your truck but a lot of guys have done it. The transmissions are pretty easy to come across and I believe they were offered in the S-10s as well. You will have to make custom transmission mounts, linkage, and driveshaft just to name the major stuff. If you are looking for something heavier duty for towing or offroading I would go with a NV4500. You can search this board a little and find lots of info on both swaps.
