Newer master and booster on 69? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I stripped a 85 2 wheel for the front parts for my 69 step rebuild.I used the spindles A-frames ect ect from the 85. I was looking at the difference in the masters and boosters from the years (I have a 1971 setup for master-booster) Is it a relatively easy swap to use the 85 master and booster---anyone have first hand with this swap? What rod did you use from the pedal to the master? any mods to this?

Took this pic at a local car show and this is a setup off of an early 80's P.U.
Guy siad it was a direct bolt in and just had to adjust the rod to the pedal

you didn't say if you had a manual or auto, big difference. there is an interferance issure with the auto linkage. feel like i'm tooting my own horn, but here is how i did mine.

My wonder is why not use the OE master/booster as it will fit with the 85 stuff and not need to be "fitted" I understand having the parts and wanting to use/save $$$, but a used master is kinda risky. The aftermarket sells smaller booster set-ups for these if interference is an issue, but other than a smaller diameter booster I don't see any advantage to any other MC/Bosster over the OE unless you get into a bigger bore size to improve the clamp load, but again OE works great with no issues?
