stupid dash question

I think I know the answer, but I want to ask the experts.

I purchased 89 Blazer doors for my 73, if I wanted to convert to a 81+ dash pad (to better match the doors), do I need to get a newer model (81+) bezel or can I re-use my 73 bezel. I know the light switch hole will be larger on a newer bezel...but is that the only difference? Also, I want to buy a aluminum overlay and some places have them seperated by year with different part numbers...why is this?

TIA - Jeff

Jeff:

I think the wiper square is also smaller in the 73 vs. 75-83 dash bezel if I am not mistaken. I have a 76 dash bezel and the wiper square opening is 2" X 7/8". I also have a billet dash bezel and had to buy the 73-77 one. The 73-77 dash bezels are raised and I believe 78-80 is different because of the 3 recessed sections and the 81-87 has a slightly different angle and single recessed section. If you choose to change the dash pad to 81 vintage, you'll need to change the bezel, due to the slight angle change. Also the front bezel along the front of the dash pad would change to match the curvature of the pad. Hope this helps.

aawww ggeee, thanks Eddie.

Alot of times people who are in this hobby turn it into a business and lose touch of the hobby side. I had the bezel just sitting on the shelf collecting dust, you mentioned you needed one, so since mine was doing no good I gave it to you. I could have easily tried to sell it on E-bay, but since I consider you a friend why not try and help you out. Now I can see if it were a box, cab, or doors...something actally worth money it would be a different story. I am a firm believer what goes around comes around, if you are nice to people they will be nice back. Glad I could help out a fellow enthuisast, that is why I like this place!

Now on a different note...can anyone find me a non-AC 81+ bezel? it doesn't matter how clean the painted chrome is, I just need a straight bezel so I can "hallow" out the upper half where the gauges go beacuse i am putting Autometers up there with an aluminum insert.

Any leads would be appreciated...dash pad too!

Thanks - Jeff

Chris, thanks!

BTW - I don't want a "chrome" one, I was referring to the chrome/silver paint around the gauge circles/wiper opening...I just want a plain black one that isn't craked or broken...plain jane model I guess.

If you had another non-A/C bezel for a 81+ I would be willing to buy it off you. Just PM me if you have an extra one (after you get Jeff one). I would also like one with pretty much no damage. Mine is cracked by the sterio and around a few screws, it kinda bugs me. Plus I dont have AC, so I have two big holes, its not pretty

Well I check in the 3 places stuff is spread over and no NON-A/C. Sorry. I have one, but it has been mangled where the owner cut a hole for a switch?, no idea what it was for though. I will keep an eye out...
