Need help with tranny in my '90 Blazer

So my tranny has been shifting into reverse and drive hard. I went and checked the fluid it was good but nasty. I finally got money to change the filter and get some new tranny fluid. I go ahead and change it out. I could n't afford to pay to go get it flushed at a shop. Well the fluids perfect but its not wanting to shift down its rapping out the rpms before it wants to shift. Any help or ideas?? Thanx

sounds like its time for a new trans. most of the time if you have a weak trans you do not change the fluid because most of the time it hurts more than it helps

Yea thats what I was wondering if that kinda of happened here and I may have mad it worse. I forgot to add its the 700r4. Do you think a complete tranny flush would be worth it or just try some tranny fix in the bottle? Thats the only other thing I could think of.

i always say leav e your tranny fluid alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if your going to change it do it religiously every 15k if you dont and you just change it out of the blue its going to crap out on you, its something about the detergents in the new fluid that destroys your clutches inside the tranny!, your going to have to get a rebuilt and if you swap it out your self dont forget to flush your lines! and get a new torque converter do not use your old one!, I HAVE REBUILT 6 700R4'S AND I HATE THEM AND THINK THEY ARE HORRIBLE TRANSMISSIONS! I HATE THEM WITH A PASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Need help with tranny in my '90 Blazer

i got a 90 sub for $100 because the guy said the 700r4 was out. i took it the tranny shop because there was no overdrive and it would run up to about 4500 rpms before shifting then shift real hard. the guy at the tranny shop called the next day and said it was ready charged me $7 and said he put some trans x in it because the fluid had prolly never been changed and everything was varnished. he said drive it about 500 miles then change the fluid and filter. i did that and have now been driving the truck for 6 or so months without incedent.
