Crew cab with modern seats

Has anybody tried to put seats from a suburban or explorer in a crew cab? I have a lead on a nice set of explorer seats front buckets and the rear seat but I am not sure on how much more room the rear seat will take up. I dont want the back seat passengers to have thier knees crushed by the front seats. Anybody have any input on this swap? I emailed the seller for dimensions of the seat to compare but figured the experts here would know right off the bat.

Thanks

Re: Crew cab with modern seats

my firend had a wrecked eddie buaer exploer with leather.. i was goign to get the sets but he put it off and finaly he scrapped it.. but he loaded it with alot of junk first and i wasnt in shape that day to mess with them.. the buckets wil fit, but i think they gonna need either new holes or new mounting set up.. for the rear seat i was really thinking hard on welding the left rear door shut, set the seat up and put ina big box on the left side.. now sure how big it would have been but it should have held a couple of 12's easy

Re: Crew cab with modern seats

I figure I will have to make some brackets for the front and rear seats as long as I can get the rear seat far enough back to be comfortable and have some leg room I think it will work. I am going to a junk yard to try and get some measurements this weekend before I commit to the seats. It sure would look good. I have the whole interior out of the truck now so I need to decide if I am going this route so I can buyu the right color trim

Re: Crew cab with modern seats

I found some brand new black leather seats out of an 08 Escalade. I was planning on fabbing up some brackets eventually. I still have to find seat belts for them though.

Re: Crew cab with modern seats

Well I just got back from a junkyard and went around measuring seats. It looks like the explorer seat is not wide enough coming in at just over 4ft wide I check the width of a square body cab and its about 57 58 inches. Suburban seats look like the best fit but you will lose some leg room in the back. There was a great set of suburban seats but they were blue so I am going to look to see how much covers are and may go get them.

To combat this, I was planning on mounting the seats about 6 inches higher than stock. I'm 6'2" and I'll have plenty of headroom.
