Three spd. O.D.?

Anyone have any info on these? The 3sp. in the Wife's '63 finally lunched itself. I can get a 3sp. O.D. for free from a friend, but don't know if I can get parts or if it is even worth rebuilding.

Re: Three spd. O.D.?

Is it a Saginaw or the earlier one? The Saginaws aren't too overly hard to find parts for, I've heard the earlier one is not as strong either. Can you get any numbers from it or a pic?

Bob

Re: Three spd. O.D.?

Tranny is a 'basic' 3 speed, basically a saginaw unit.

OD part is what is interesting. There is a solenoid connected to it (about 2/3 the size of a beer can) and a governor too (about the 1/2 the size of the aforementioned solenoid).

I had one before, foolishly sold it (bad gears in the tranny, good OD) and have picked up another (good tranny, good OD, but no solenoid or governor). Those 2 pieces are likely to set me back a good piece, so if you have yours, they're worth something.

There's a full electrical hookup required (search on this site, or classictrucksweb.com or just google T85N) that can be a bit tricky, but when everything is working, they're a JOY!

Good luck.

Re: Three spd. O.D.?

My tranny is the early one. I'm going to pickup the O.D. today to see if it is any good.

Re: Three spd. O.D.?

Anyone know if anyone has repro units of the overdrive? I was looking to get a 4 speed for the 66 but was more interested in just gettin the overdrive. Is it better to just look on ebay? Thanks...
