Question Doin a S-15 305 Upgrade - Need help

Hey Guys & Gals of the truck community...

I am in the process of putting a 305 small block chevy motor into a 86 S-15. It is loads of fun I tell ya. My questions is, if anyone has first hand knowledge or knows where to find free info on all the wiring, and hose routing that will need to be done with this upgrade. I have the engine in, custom mounts made, and the driveline attached. It is getting closer. If anybody can help, please email me @ ormstrup@cb.monarch.net it would be VERY appreciated! I have pics of the work done so far if it helps.

Isaac

If you live in Missouri forget it. You will get run off from more inspection stations than you can shake a stick at. Thats my first hand experience. 25 in one day. Had a 83 S-15 with a 350 and a saginaw 3 speed manual tranny, was a runnin SOB. Alot of work for nothing for me.

I have got a bunch done on the truck. I have recently (last night) got the Rochester Carb on, the starter in (1988 Buick Starter - to fit exhaust past) and Started to splice the wiring harness. I am unsure totally which wies need to be spliced into the 305 / 350 harness. Also where all the plumbing for the crab goes. If anyone knows, drop me a line!

I will have pics soon, I don't know how to attach photos to these msgs.. Maybe I can post on a web page.

Talking

I have four friends who have done it.

1st - has a 350 pushing over 400hp with a t5, and a 4 cylider rear (they are stronger than the 6 cyl rear) that is what I have been told.

2nd - has a 350/t5 and ford 9" narrowed

3rd - has a 327/4spd and 4cyl rear

4th - has a 350/th350 pushing over 400 hp.

Three of them used s-10 conversion headers and the 4th one use custom made heades that he didnt have to move the steering column. They almost look like manifolds, but are actual headers.

I also have a copy of the manual that my one friend used. I was going to do it, but got tired of the mini's. I love driving a full size truck now. Just my opinion.

I wonder how hard it would be to swap in a truck 12-bolt. Or maybe just a 10 bolt from a car. Narrowed of course. Im looking to push 500+ hp and 500lb ft so I would want a strong rear.

If you are going to narrow the rear anyways, I would say go with a ford 9". They are so much strongers that the gm rears. I cant believe I am saying this, listed about in my post you see one of my friends had done this and it was indistructable. It was rebuilt with a detroit locker and Mosser axles and he had 4.11 gears.
