6 cylinder engine mounts don't work
Need help please. I have a 1960 235 straight six engine, engine has front mounts attached.
The truck is set up for side mounts. Today purchased a pair of side mount 66 Chevy motor mounts and they don't fit the hole pattern on the block. They didt make side mounts in 1960 right? Did I buy to old of a 235 engine and now must use front mounts? Do I have to use a front mount setup for my 66? If so, anyone have pictures? Getting frustrated here....what's up?? |

Re: 6 cylinder engine mounts don't work
The 235 was last used in 62. It was replaced by the 250 series, which is a narrower block, and far superior to the 235.
I don't know of anyone making mounts to put the 235 in a newer truck. You would have to weld up your own. But it will be easier to get a 250.

Re: 6 cylinder engine mounts don't work
just put in a crossmember to locate the frt eng mount. the crank should have a 3 degree incline from fr to rear .it would be simpler to put in a 230-250 i6 instead of just putting in something just because you have it
you will have to use the 235 bellhousing also and if it used the hydraulic clutch the throw out is on the r/side which will also pose a problem for you unless you find a l/hand housing for the t/o ron |
