Re: 83 Chevy diesel wiring HELP

Well, after getting into the truck a a little, I have realized that I'm going to need to rewire about half of it. It is working for now, but I want to get it right.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Hey fellow Austinite!! Check with www.autozone.com for wiring diagrams. Pictures too.

I have a complete 83 factory service manual too. I just need a good copier. Parts are plentiful around Austin too.

Re: 83 Chevy diesel wiring HELP

Thanks for the autozone.com tip. Unfortunately there diagram is good for about half of what I need. It doesn't show anything for a diesel truck.

Re: 83 Chevy diesel wiring HELP

What diesel specific systems need to be re-wired? Should only be the low coolant & water in fuel light circuits, high idle / timing advance circuit and the glow plug circuit. Everything else is fairly common to a gasoline engine.

Re: 83 Chevy diesel wiring HELP

Yup, all that stuff you said, but I am also splicing it to a cummins motor. The dashlights are out and I have 8 or so loose ends under the dash, plus the dual tank wiring ends fust after the switch. This is gonna be one hell of a ride...
