60 swb frame mod?? Why?

Wanted to see if anyone had seen this before, I am pretty new to the 60 chev truck so I am not sure why this would have been added. I am thinking at this point it is just extra weight and needs to be removed. Could I get some opinions here. On the drivers side there is a mounting post of some kind mounted to the plate, passanger side just appears to be reinforcment? Just boggles me because these frames are tanks factory built. Thanks

I would start cutting welds and going back to original. Chevy didn't have the strongest frames on the market, but for 99% of the market they were good enough.

Looks like my 62 build. I see the rear shock mounts on the floor in the pics. Know where I can find one for the passengerside?

ive seen that on a truck used in the logging industry. so they can crawl over the dead fall to mark trees...back in the day before atv's.
