OT Jeep Comanche V8 Conversion
This is a bit off topic but I just picked up a 87 jeep comanche for $1000 . Its one of the smaller trucks with a 4 cylinder. Body is perfect and the paints in great shape . Interior is in excellent shape. Anyone have any idea what it would take to shoehorn a V8 in one using a TH350 ? Anyone make mounts or headers?

I would check some Jeep sites. The commanche is about the same as the Cherokee and I have heard of folks putting 8's in them. Should have plenty of room I would think since they also came with a straight 6. I think if you got it done, you would have a real cool truck.
Sort of thinking out loud, but I wounder if mounts/etc from the v8 grand cherokee might work??

Advance Adaptors has all the parts you'll need less the engine. Its a bit of work. You'll need a beefier transfer case (unless your real easy on it) Makes for a nice ride tho. Check out www.jeepforum.com . they can be a great help

I guess I dont have to wrry about the transfer case because it doesnt have one. Its a 2WD. It weighs nothing. 2800 lbs on the title. Thinking about turning it into a drag race vehicle. Lower it, tub it, narrow a dana 60
and throw a 500 HP small block in it. It might be fun. Until then I'll drive it as is for a while.

Well, it wasn't any too stock, but I have seen a cherokee with a 540 rat in it. It had all 1 ton running gear, and it was a mud truck. But, it looked like the BB fit in there without having to stretch the front of it or anything.
(I hope you won't be offended by this, but if it were me I would rather be told than find out the hard way) I would be sure to carry a fire extinguisher in that thing because that is probably one of the top 5 vehicles that I see burned.

what the hell. I figure this things got 150,000 miles on it anyway so its about time it burned. I may just leave it as is. It runs good and gets 23 mpg. The price is right and since my wife isnt harping about "always having to get the expensive gas" I can go ahead and bump up the '68 to 11:1 compression and install some 4.88 gears.
