Header question
Any opinions as to whether these will fit my 67 with a 350 in the straight six position? No ide on brand but they are shorty headers swept back in T304 Stainless and are currently at a very good price on ebay here in the UK.
Picture and sellers description Mouse Motor Racing. Small Block Chevy Headers, in Stainless T304 Tubing. For Auction, No Reserve. Backswept "Shorty" Fast Road/Race exhaust manifolds. Primary chambers are Internal Diameter @1.5" by @1.75" inch = 35mm by 45mm. Collectors are Internal Diameter @2.25" =55mm and have a "Gasketless" re-sealable steel Knuckle for large @3"inch=75mm flared hook-ups. Fits All V8 SBC 283-400CID engines with Straight Plug Heads. Plus these "Shorty`s" are a Direct fitment to Chevy Silverado / Sierra 5.0lt and 5.7lt. 2 H/D Laminated Steel Head Flange Gaskets and 6 collector bolts included. According to his feedback on ebay the last set sold for the equivalent of $115, seriously cheap.

I looked at that style for my 71 and it dumps right into the shift rod off my steering column , pass side was fine.

Yeah that's what worries me. I'm waiting to see if I can get some measurements off the vendor. Mine is a column shift, if thats the case its a shame as theyy look good and are a great price.

I personally think you would have clearance problems. I do like the O2 bung(fitting) on the left side it could make way for a wideband airfuel gauge to tell you if your running rich or lean but thats only if you want to get the max performance if your a go fast guy like me. I would go with a different set of shorty headers or buy some hedmans like me

Yeah, at the moment it has ramshorns running to true duals with pipes out just in front of the rear wheels, stock inlet manifold with a Carter AFB/electric fuel pump, electric fan and an unknown cam ( not standard!) and a mallory twin point distributor. Its about to get an Edelbrock Performer EPS manifold, stock HEI dizzy, and engine rewire, a decent mini starter and some other bits and bobs. Its now just a weekend toy so speed is good! This is the thing I hate bout Ebay, you can't see the goods before you buy them to know if stuff will fit.

Not telling you what to do, but I have seen those shorty headers decrease power. Well if you swap from long tube headers to short tube headers, it will decrease the power. Not sure about swapping manifods to the headers.

I have heard that too that shorty don't flow as good as full length tubes but I have also heard that ramhorns flow as good as headers but who knows? I would get a good set of full length headers and get rid of those points!

Yeah points are going but at the moment finding time to work on the truck isn't easy with my 21 month old twins taking up a lot of time, plus the usual domestic stuff. Also at the moment I have to work outside and the summer we've had over here then thats one day a week if you're lucky when it ain't raining! I should soon have some shelter to work in though which is good and I can fit the big pile of parts I've got stockpiled in the garage (too small to get the truck in as its built to fit little british cars!) That includes a HEI dizzy, the mallory is a PITA to setup and not that reliable as it needs regular attention to gaps etc. Long term I want a front disk brake conversion and to lower it a touch, I'm also hatching plans to build a period looking camper top maybe with an elevating roof like a VW camper.

Yeah the boys are a handfull at times, especially as I'm a full time stay at home dad whilst my wife is out at work! Driving the truck over here's not really a problem generally although parking can be a little interesting as spaces tend to be somewhat tight here. I love it, its amazing how many young lads in their nasty little ricermobiles that look like they've crashed sideways through a tupperware party underestimate the old girl, for some reason assuming it has a diesel engine when sat at the lights.
Just a gratuitous shotof my boys over at our house in France this summer. Not long now befoire they're old enough to start making box carts with them! ![]()

if you do go with the full length on a 67 you will have to use a die grinder or plasma cutter on the top and bottom of the pass side and bottom of drivers side.... or I did with the set of Hooker Headers I got (Competition series)
