Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

I'd say it depends on your region and who's doing the work.

I got a quote on my 97, Just touching up above my rear fender flairs and removing a couple parking lot dents from the front fenders and re-painting them @ $700.00....

Either your guy is low or my guy is high....But, I've seen his work and don't mind paying the price.

Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

It all depends what is getting done:
-Layers of primer
-Layers of base
-Layers of clear
-The type of paint. Metallic, solid, or flat.
-Final cut and buff?

I had my truck painted with a 7 step process in metallic blue for around 3 grand 4 years ago. Also about two weekends worth of wet sanding and buffing.

If single stage id say its high
Id say its fair for bc/cc.And that is comparing to How much $ i have in my paint on my truck.

Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

mine got painted in the backyard. That price is better then any around here. It is crazy hosw much people want for paint jobs. Although if you did all the body work then it is about right. So of my freinds had there stuff painted by the local Tech school and the results where really good. something to consider since they only charge for the cost of materials.

Seems pretty low to me......and that's not always a good sign. The only people I distrust more than painters are lawyers.

Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

You really need to talk to shops in your area. Even if I had a great painter to recommend I doubt that you would come to Texas for the work.
I don't think 1000.00 is a bad price if that includes materials. You want a cheap price, your going to get cheap results. Paint work is not where you want to cut corners

Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

I know my painter is charging me 3200.00 for a two tone paint job. He is also going to two tone the jams and paint the interior of the truck for me. The truck has no rot only a few small dings. That is the going rate around here for a quality paint job.

Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

when I was redoing mine a couple years ago I was on a bit of a budget( arent we all). I got referances from other friends, Body guys I know etc. & got estimates from them. basically prices started at 2500.00 for not much more than a basic quality paint job. John

Re: where did u get ur trucks painted?

I wish I lived over there, I paid $5000.00 for a mates rates job that would have gone as high as $10000.00. the thing to remember is the work involved getting ready for paint, sanding, primer, sanding, filler, sanding, primer, sanding, color, sanding, clearcoat, sanding, buffing, refitting panels etc, etc.

Mine had 4 coats of color and 4 coats of clear and spent 7 months in the paint shop but the result was worth it
