Warn Enforcer bumper works on '81-'87 pickups, but not for '73-'80? Whats the deal?
I want to get a winch bumper for my '74 GMC pickup, but the bumper I want only works for '81-'87 GM's. Why cant I use this bumper on my GMC? If I did use this bumper would it look like its made for my rig? Any of you guys know where I can get any aftermarket front bumper (new or used), that will hold a winch, for my truck?

It isn't listed to fit because the frame is diffferent in the front .The 73-80 frame horns are enclosed on the end and kinda rounded off.the 81-87 frame horns are cut off at a downward angle. you are doing it the easy way though. If i wanted it ,I wouldn't hesistate to buy the bumper and cut the front frame horn[only an inch or two]to make it work I have done that to those year frames before to install the 81-87 front ends. sawzall , no biggy . I am sure you can find a friend with an 81-87 to make template of the frame horn, but i bet it really does not matter once you "open" up the end of the frame.DAVE

Thanks for the tip, so are '81-'87 pickups not as long as '73-'80 rigs? My neighbor has an '84 so I might be able to use his as a guide.

Erik,
To give you an idea, this is what I did to my '73 frame. As crossy said, this is difference. I used a small cut-off wheel. You WILL need to get the '81-87 brakects for the support. Just us the frame bracket as a guide. ------------------ Chris Lucas 1973 Chevy C-10 1975 Chevy Silverado Captkaos Customs
