unequal leaf springs ?

My truck came with huge 8 leaf springs. It sat level when I got it, but the springs were way too stiff and the back end was jacked way up in the air.

I removed the giant helper spring and one of the upper springs that didn't seem to have much spring rate to it. This was just enough to make them comfortable and give me some drop.

The problem now is, one side is slightly higher than the other ! What can I do to fix this ?

Add the upper spring back in, or take another leaf out on the other side....

I went out out measured on level ground and one side ended up being between 1/2 to 3/4 higher than the other side. I measured from the lip of the rear wheel opening to the edge of the rim. It's strange because we were very careful to make sure that we took out identical leafs on each side, and the end result is indeed equal, but ride height isn't.

The only things I can think of are to use a drop or lift shackle on either side to correct this. I don't even know if that's a good idea to have different shackles on each side. The only thing is, the smallest drop shackle you can get is 1" which I feel would be too much. If I could just find some drop shackles that had the spring holes undrilled, I could drill the holes in the correct location that would give me 1/2 of drop for that side, then drill the other side for stock height.

I could also stick a 1/2 inch lift block on the lower side but I'd rather not because I like the stance more on that side and would like the higher side to match.

Are the shackle or lift block ideas a valid solution ?
