Got a truck..

Not the best way to get a truck. My friend recently went to heaven and left me with his truck. I usually work with 67-72's and am not familiar with these vintage trucks, I don't even know what year it is. Here's a few pics of what it was about a year ago, since then it is put together, engine runs, not real sure if it's road worthy, and I am leaning toward putting the engine into a 67-72 p/u or finding a 60's car to put it in. What parts of these trucks are sell able parts? Don't get me wrong, like I'm not wanting to finish his project, be he allways told me just make sure the engine gets run hard, cause that's the way HE built it.

Thanks!

Re: Got a truck..

I would just keep it alive and honor what he gave you..Its a Huge compliment in its self......Seems that is what he wanted....There is a good size market for those trucks. But IMO i would leave it as be...And find another engine for the latter....Finish what needs to be done and drive the wheels off it........Good Luck.

Re: Got a truck..

If you post a current picture with a shot of the front end someone can ID the year. All the parts are worth something, your friend (RIP) put a later model sub frame under it and probably later model trans and rear end. You could pull the engine, maybe trans, and sell the rest as a roller. Some one would pick it up if the price is fair. Looks like the paint and body is in good shape too. Interior done?? If so not a big deal leaves the new owner with something to finish to their taste. I would do that before I would part it out.

Re: Got a truck..

the title says it's a '53..? battery was dead, charged it and tried to start with no luck. got gas but the wiring isn't finished, so I've got to trace the coil wire to look for spark and go from there. Here's a few more pics.

Re: Got a truck..

Its either a 52 or a 53. It has the vent windows in the doors and the door handles have push buttons. If the title says 53 then im sure that is your answer

Great looking project! I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but be sure to keep his spirit alive by rebuilding this thing.
