this is how original my truck is....

so i am getting ready to put new rims on my '84 short box tomarrow and as i pulled the back wheels off my jaw hit the floor... ORIGINAL never cracked open drums, with paint on them! lol

At 65,000 you may want to crack um open, My 74 went metal to metal and didn't make a peep until the wheel cylinder blew, Had to replace everything.

If you do pop them off be sure to index the drum to the axel so it will stay ballanced.

Stamp a dot on one axel stud and then the drum next to that stud.

yeah, i will have to pop them open because as i pulled the passager back wheel the back of the tire was all "wet" which means i'm about to loose a wheel cylinder....so i will have to get at it before spring time comes....if things play out right it will be pulling out of the garage with a 5"/7" drop and little healthier of a motor.... i have kept the truck original so far but things just keep showing up...back springs are dearching, and i have a bad driver front coil. it basically comes down to i want the truck to my setup...not GM's anymore...
