Re: how to take cab off with one person?
I'm taking mine off using my tractor with a 3 point lift. Sort of like the engine hoist. I like the idea of the chain or the 2X4 for the cheapest way to do it.
The chain is good if it's painted and you don't want to put any nicks on it. You can also adjust the lenth accordingly to balance it that way. And I like the 2X4 method for stability but I think I would double up on the wood. But, I sure thought the cab weighed more than 200 lbs. -even stripped. My little nephew weighs more than that. |

Re: how to take cab off with one person?
Using the engine lift inside the cab seems like the best way. For a more universal way check this out: http://www.accessiblesystems.com/bl.php (i.e car, blazer, etc bodies)
I am thinking of building one of these to lift my blazer body for the frame work. Chad |

I didn't notice the first time... Is that's a regular engine lift on the back of your tractor? Did you rig it specifically for that? I think that would definitely have more control over lifting and lowering. Mine is similar to one of these. I lifted the engine and trans with it so I figure it would lift the cab. Re: how to take cab off with one person?
Best method is yourself, 3 buddies and a 6 pack of beer....
I tried the hoist method but a 4WD with a stick shift is too high... Then I built a 2x4 crate to roll it around on...I can get the measurement if you want...

Re: how to take cab off with one person?
I used a chain fall, and my 2 x 6rafters out in my carport . Works like a charm, my cab was complete, doors glass, and interior. Just picked out 4.3 and trans this evening with the same set up.
